Trust Due Diligence audits - a New Service From Handsam Ltd

Many clients have started to take advantage of these audits as part of their overall diligence in onboarding new schools into their trust.

But the DfE requirements for evidencing of 'robust governance' and internal audit has also led to an increase in trust-level due diligence audits, often focussing on particular topics such as Critical Incident/Emergency Planning, First Aid and Medicines or Safety on Trips & Visits. These reviews can provide trusts with valuable insights into the current provision but also, based on Handsam's vast experience in the education sector over the past 20 years, and our the size and scope of our clientele, we can share excellent practice from across our clients and make proactive recommendations for consideration as part of the trust's strategy.

As an example, one MAT recently commissioned Handsam to review its provision for Critical Incident/Emergency Planning, which led to a much-revised policy being produced, taking not account the trust's current management structures, with training being delivered to ensure all relevant personnel were aware of the new procedures.

Handsam have also been involved in assisting another client in considering whether to onboard a proposed new academy, which, it was eventually decided, due to significant premises fabric issues was not possible as it would have presented a range of financial and management issues.

Handsam also assisted another multi academy trust in saving circa £10,000 by replacing an expensive Helpdesk/ticket system with Handsam's own, far more cost-effective and sector-specific module of the Handsam system.
